Another experience when the motorbike trialists couldn’t get it right! The first thing to note is that now Robin Bergstrand has decided to train hard again he is coming quickly into form. Both Robin and the women’s winner Alison Raw posted new records for the course on a miserable day with sleet / hail a bit of mist and fairly wet going particularly in the forestry section. I tried a new marking system for the course which was pointed out at the start but I have yet to speak to any runners who even noticed it. In the main race the front two had a gap of about 80 yards at the top of the first climb. On completion of the moorland section Robin was clear by about 40 seconds and went on to win comfortably. Alison Raw continues to improve her main challenger was Sue Webb who managed to ‘tag’ her on the climb but fell away on the moorland section. The main confrontation of the day saw Ron. Sherwood finally have to give up a winning sequence of sixteen races when he was narrowly beaten by P.Lancaster in the over 60’ |
